192° Wide-Angle Fisheye M12 Lens for 5MP to 8MP Sensors

The CIL237 is a cost-competitive 1.75mm fisheye M12 lens built for wide coverage on larger image circles. The product page leads with 200°@5.5mm, while the specification table gives 192° at 5.4mm image circle with a full 5.5mm image circle. In practice, this is the lens you pick when you want aggressive coverage on sensors from 1/3" to 1/1.7" without jumping to a much larger assembly.

Resolution is rated at 5MP with 2.2μm pixels, and the lens is commonly positioned for sensors up to 5MP 1/2.5" and 8MP 1/1.8". EFL is 1.75mm, aperture is F/2.2, and TTL is 19.0mm. That short TTL matters in embedded cameras where housing depth is still a hard constraint.

The optical design uses a hybrid Glass+Plastic construction with metal mechanicals. That is the right trade for this class of lens: good performance, lower cost, and manageable weight at 5g. The M12A variant includes BBAR on lens 1 surface 1 with a metal cap and barrel. Available with IR cut and without filter for NIR use.

Distortion is the interesting part. Commonlands calls out special F-Θ behavior: less than 2% F-Θ distortion through a 5.0mm image circle, then -8% F-Θ at 5.5mm. If angular consistency matters more than pretty rectilinear edges, this is a useful profile. The recommended holder is CLA020. e-con Systems boards with 7-10mm mount height work, and iDS uEye LE Rev1.1 is compatible.
