Varifocal Zoom M12 Lens for up to 1/2.7" Sensors

The CIL461 is a 6mm-42mm varifocal zoom M12 lens with 7X optical magnification for up to 2MP on 1/2.7" sensors. At F/2.5 and 57g, it is much larger and heavier than a fixed-focal M12 lens. That is the price of getting real optical zoom and adjustable focus in one package.

At the 6mm end, the lens covers a 62° field of view across a 6.6mm image circle with -10% F-Theta distortion. You will see that distortion if your application depends on straight-line accuracy, so this lens fits surveillance, general monitoring, and prototype work better than geometric measurement. Calculate your field of view to model coverage at different focal lengths on your sensor.

The construction uses 7 glass elements in an aluminum barrel. The M12A variant ships with IP69K sealing, BBAR coating on the first surface, and no IR cut filter as CIL461-F2.3-M12ANIR. An M12B variant is also available. Focus is adjusted after the lens is glued in place, so this is not a quick-swap bench lens.

Mechanical compatibility is limited to e-con Systems S-mount boards using an 8-10mm tall holder and the Commonlands CLA019 lens holder. Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, and The Imaging Source boards are not compatible because the barrel diameter is too large.
