215° Zero F-Theta Fisheye M12 Lens for IP67 Embedded Vision

The CIL220 is a 1.8mm F/2.3 fisheye M12 lens with a 215° field of view at 6.8mm image circle — one of the widest available in a standard M12 package. What makes it unusual at this FoV is the near-zero F-theta distortion across the central 160° range. Most fisheye lenses at 200°+ show significant peripheral compression; the CIL220's design suppresses that where it matters most for machine vision tasks like object detection, distance estimation, and omnidirectional surveillance.

Format coverage extends to 2/3" for circular fisheye imaging. At F/2.3, resolution targets 2-5MP on 1/1.7" sensors. At F/2.8, the same optical formula supports 8MP+ on 1/1.7" sensors. Weight is 4.0g. TTL is 16.3mm. This is a genuinely compact package for a lens with 215° coverage.

Two mechanical variants. The M12B uses BBAR coating on lens surface 1 with an IP69K-rated AL6061 aluminum cap and barrel — good for exterior applications with water and dust exposure. The M12C adds a hydrophobic coating on the first lens surface in place of BBAR, which helps repel water droplets and resist fouling in rain, spray, or condensation-prone environments. Both require a 7mm-9mm tall M12 holder, which is shorter than the 9mm-13mm standard — this is a hard mechanical constraint.

The lens is not compatible with most standard industrial board cameras. Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, and The Imaging Source M12 boards are all listed as mechanically incompatible. Confirmed compatible options are the Commonlands CLA018 and e-con Systems standard S-mount boards with 7-9mm holders. Basler Dart users should contact Basler directly for compatibility confirmation.
