8mm M12 Lens for >1/1.7" Cameras.

The CIL081 is an 8.0mm M12 lens for sensors larger than 1/1.7 inch. It resolves 5MP+ across a 12mm image circle at F/2.0, which is unusually large coverage for an M12 lens. That is the reason to look at this part. It gives you more sensor area than most S-mount optics can cover without moving up to a larger mount.

The lens gives you a 42° field of view on a 6.2mm sensor diagonal, which works well for inspection and monitoring at mid-range working distances. Distortion is 1% TV, so most barcode, measurement, and general machine vision systems can use the image without software correction. If you need a compact lens with decent reach and a large image circle, this is one of the more practical M12 options.

The optics are all glass, the barrel is AL6061 aluminum, and the total weight is 16.6g. The M12A mechanical variant accepts an optional 650nm IR cut-off filter, so you can choose between visible-only and NIR-sensitive builds without changing the core lens. You can order CIL081-F2.0-M12A650 for visible-spectrum use or CIL081-F2.0-M12ANIR for NIR work.

The lens fits e-con Systems standard S-mount boards with a 13-15mm tall holder, Allied Vision Alvium, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source, and Basler Dart cameras. The Commonlands CLA024 lens holder is required for board-level integration. You can calculate your field of view to confirm coverage on your sensor.
