Frequently asked questions

What sensors does the CIL546 50mm C-mount lens support?

The CIL546 fits 1.1 inch sensors with 2.74µm pixel pitch at 20MP and above. It works well with the IMX540 and comparable area scan sensors, and the 17.6mm image circle fully covers the 1.1 inch format.

How much distortion does the CIL546 have?

Distortion measures 0.07%, which is effectively zero. You do not need software correction for most metrology, gauging, or precision measurement work at that level.

What is the CIL546 minimum working distance?

The minimum working distance is 250mm. The CIL546 is optimized from 250mm to infinity, so it works well in telephoto setups that need tight framing at distance.

Can I adjust the aperture on the CIL546 50mm lens?

Yes, the aperture adjusts from F/2.8 to F/16. Stopping down adds depth of field, but it costs you light, which is the usual tradeoff in parts inspection. You can use depth of field calculator to model your setup.

Does the CIL546 include a filter thread?

Yes, the CIL546 has an M35.5x0.5 filter thread. It accepts standard machine vision bandpass, polarization, and neutral density filters.

Does the CIL546 ship same day from the US?

Yes, Commonlands ships in-stock lenses same day from San Diego for orders placed before 12 PM PST. You can contact us for current CIL546 stock levels and volume pricing.

CIL546 is a 50mm C-mount lens for 1.1" sensors at 20MP and above with 2.74µm pixel pitch compatibility. It pairs well with the IMX540 and similar sensors. The 17.6mm image circle gives a 20° field of view, so you get tight framing at longer working distances starting from 250mm.

The aperture adjusts from F/2.8 to F/16, which lets you choose between more light and more depth of field. Distortion is 0.07%, which is effectively zero for dimensional measurement, metrology, and gauging. Most systems will not need software correction at that level. The all-glass construction also holds focus better on a factory floor when temperature moves around.

The lens weighs 127g and uses an M35.5x0.5 filter thread for bandpass, polarization, or neutral density filters. The full 17.6mm image circle covers the 1.1" format edge to edge, so you are using the whole sensor instead of cropping it.

Commonlands ships this lens as CIL546-F2.8-CMANIR without filter. It works well with 1.1" area scan cameras from Lucid, FLIR, Basler, and Ximea.

The lens ships same day from San Diego for orders before 12 PM PST. You can contact engineering@commonlands.com for volume pricing or application support on long working distance inspection setups.
