Frequently asked questions

What sensors work with the CIL725 CS-mount fisheye lens?

The CIL725 covers sensors up to 2/3 inch format at 12MP resolution. On 1/2.3 inch sensors like the IMX477, it gives 190° horizontal field of view. Stop it down to F/2.4 if you need 14MP+ on a high-density sensor.

What is the field of view of the CIL725?

The CIL725 gives 190° field of view on a 6.4mm image circle. On 2/3 inch sensors you get a full circular fisheye image, while 1/2.3 inch sensors get 190° horizontal coverage.

Can the CIL725 be used with Raspberry Pi HQ Camera?

Yes, the CIL725 can be used with the Raspberry Pi HQ Camera because it threads on through CS-mount. On the IMX477, it gives 190° horizontal coverage.

What is the aperture range of the CIL725?

The CIL725 has a manual iris that runs from F/1.8 to F/14. F/1.8 gives maximum light, and stopping down to F/2.4 raises resolving power to 14MP+.

Does the CIL725 CS-mount fisheye ship from the US?

Yes, in-stock CIL725 lenses ship same day from San Diego, California for orders placed before 12 PM PST.

What cameras are mechanically compatible with the CIL725?

The CIL725 is mechanically compatible with FLIR Blackfly S, Allied Vision Alvium, iDS uEye LE, The Imaging Source M12 boards, Basler Dart, and Raspberry Pi HQ Camera. Use the Commonlands CLA024 adapter if your camera board is based on M12 mounting.

The CIL725 is a 2.54mm CS-mount fisheye lens with 190° field of view on a 6.4mm image circle. It opens to F/1.8 and uses a manual iris down to F/14, so you can trade light for depth of field instead of being locked into one setup. All-glass, all-metal construction brings the weight to 81g, which is heavier than a board lens but normal for a CS-mount fisheye that covers this much angle.

On 2/3" sensors the lens produces a full circular 190° fisheye image. On 1/2.3" sensors like the Raspberry Pi HQ Camera with IMX477, it gives 190° horizontal coverage. Distortion is -9% F-Θ, which follows standard fisheye projection closely enough that dewarping software behaves predictably. The lens resolves 12MP at the widest aperture, and stopping down to F/2.4 raises resolving power to 14MP+ on high-density sensors.

Manual focus lets you set the working distance instead of accepting a factory default. The CS-mount thread goes straight onto any CS-mount camera. Raspberry Pi HQ, FLIR Blackfly S, iDS uEye, Allied Vision, Basler Dart, and The Imaging Source boards are mechanically compatible. The Commonlands CLA024 adapter works for M12-based camera boards, and other compatible mounts are available.

This is the fisheye to use when you need circular coverage for 360° stitching rigs, room-scale monitoring, or hemispherical inspection. You can check sensor coverage with our field of view calculator at field of view calculator
